Nest have finally announced a UK version of their learning thermostat. \u00a0Now available from Amazon<\/a>\u00a0for the DIY installers, the system comes with\u00a0a 12volt wired or wireless boiler relay to suit UK installations. \u00a0A certified installer program is already in operation (check out the link below) with a ‘basic install’ ranging from \u00a375 to \u00a399.<\/p>\n

The Learning Thermostat remembers the temperatures you like, creates a custom schedule for your home, and turns itself down when you’re away. It can be wall mounted or sit on a table top with the optional stand.<\/p>\n

You can control it from anywhere with your phone, tablet or laptop to adjust you’re home temperatures while you are on the move. \u00a0With the\u00a0Auto Away feature, the Nest Thermostat senses you’ve left home and automatically adjusts the temperature to avoid heating an empty house.<\/p>\n

…this Nest Thermostat is an almost entirely new Nest Thermostat. The one we have in the US and Canada won\u2019t work for the UK because there\u2019s a different problem to solve. The issue isn\u2019t that you leave the heat or AC on all day. It\u2019s that you barely have any control over your heat. Or your bill.<\/p>\n

Most UK heating systems don\u2019t even have thermostats. So the actual temperature or your comfort never enters into the equation. In order to warm up the house, you have to keep walking back and forth to the programmer, manually turning on the heat in quick bursts hoping you get it right. There\u2019s also no way to track how much heat you\u2019re using, so balancing comfort and energy savings is guesswork.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

One other big difference between the Nest Learning Thermostat for the US and the UK is installation. Boilers in the UK use high-voltage wires, so we strongly encourage professional installation, and we have already built up a network of trained Nest Certified Professionals to help.\u00a0https:\/\/certified.nest.com\/uk\/<\/a><\/p>\n

Installing your Nest Thermostat will take hour or so. The installer will connect the Nest Thermostat to your Wi-Fi network, make sure it\u2019s also connected to your Heat Link and add your programmer\u2019s schedule.
