{"id":2882,"date":"2011-05-11T16:20:18","date_gmt":"2011-05-11T15:20:18","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2017-05-28T11:35:50","modified_gmt":"2017-05-28T10:35:50","slug":"wireless-led-google-bulb-for-android-at-home","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/automatedhome.com\/new-products\/wireless-led-google-bulb-for-android-at-home.html","title":{"rendered":"Wireless LED &#8216;Google&#8217; Bulb for Android at Home"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"Google's Android at Home LED Bulb from Lighting Science\" src=\"\/images\/news\/lighting_science_led.jpg\" alt=\"Google's Android @ Home LED Bulb from Lighting Science\" width=\"550\" height=\"351\" \/><\/div>\n<p>Yesterdays announcement that Google have arrived in the Home Automation world continues to make waves.\u00a0 This morning Engadget have got their hands on some of the wireless LED bulbs show in the demos and have revealed some interesting details about them.<\/p>\n<p><div class=\"sj-gblock\">\n<script language=\"javascript\">\n<!--\ngoogle_ad_client = \"ca-pub-5598479065369258\";\ngoogle_ad_width = 300; \ngoogle_ad_height = 250; \ngoogle_ad_format = \"300x250_as\"; \ngoogle_ad_channel = \"7058025304\"; \ngoogle_ad_type = \"text_image\"; \ngoogle_color_border = \"FFFFFF\"; \ngoogle_color_bg = \"FFFFFF\"; \ngoogle_color_link = \"52a79f\"; \ngoogle_color_url = \"CFFFDF\"; \ngoogle_color_text = \"000000\"; \n\/\/--> \n<\/script>\n<script language=\"javascript\"  src=\"http:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/show_ads.js\"><\/script>\n<\/div>Among the specs it&#8217;s emerged that the system uses 900MHz &#8211; which is currently a mobile phone band in the UK.\u00a0 However it&#8217;s pretty normal practice to have different frequencies for different countries (as with wireless X10 products for example) so this shouldn&#8217;t stop the products making their way to Europe and beyond in the future.<\/p>\n<p>Engadget also reports that the LED Bulb should retail for around $30 (which usually means at least \u00a330 these days) and in addition there will be a light switch, security lamp plus a &#8216;wall wart&#8217; which we assume will be wireless gateway from Wi-Fi devices to Android @ Home products.<\/p>\n<p>Engadget are already touting the system as less expensive and easier to setup than exiting home automation products and they&#8217;re talking about Z-Wave and Zigbee systems, not high the end AMX&#8217;s and Crestron&#8217;s of this world&#8230;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>this Google-led mesh networking solution &#8212; which beams out commands on the 900MHz frequency band &#8212; is the first HA solution that&#8217;s truly designed to be ultra-low-cost and easy to implement.
